Building Affordability in South San Francisco - Life’s Garden is a 208-unit apartment complex originally constructed in 1976 for seniors 62 and up. The community underwent an $75,366,000 renovation to improve livability and safety. Improvements include updates to common interior and exterior spaces, full upgrades to units, and an expanded entrance and management office.

During the 24-months of renovations, residents were relocated and had the choice of staying with relatives or at an offsite residential unit at no additional cost. The project was funded primarily through a construction participation loan, and 4% LIHTC Private Activity Bonds. The project will continue to serve low-income seniors up to 50% AMI with 20% disabled seniors.
